Would you feel the same without the personal connection?

This is a gross novel, personal connection or no, but fiction does draw from reality. I think those particular scenes are horrific but then I think more about the police officer who let a clearly drugged and injured boy be taken away, most likely because he was Asian and Dahmer was white.

I'm just wondering if anyone ever thought of this novel as an exploitation device...?
I've done a lot of research over the years about Jeffrey Dahmer...and something about his story has always intrigued my interest and also haunted me for some reason. I've recently discovered that one of his victims was a brother in law of my uncle's cousin. He was the victim that almost had gotten away from Dahmer...hense the oriental boy from Laos...hense Tran the Vietmanese teenager. I had gotten this novel from a friend because I started working on an art project based on Jeffrey Dahmer and his emotional connections with his victims...and I find this book to be appalling. I don't know why, I just find it rather insulting to publish a novel like this that just has so many references to that specific murder. I just came to this conclusion a couple of hours ago while I was reading this book. I don't think it's right...although her interests may be harmless...it's horrible to make a sick sexual fantasy novel about someones death. She's a great writer with oblivion to anyone that would seriously be affected by this.
Anyway...that's my opinion...
Thanks.
